I hope I never get over the thrill of seeing the new book the first day it hits the stands. Meltdown on Sunset Blvd, bless them, can always be relied upon to have a few copies...

Born and raised in central New Jersey, I have never pretended to be from New York. My parents were Manhattan exiles and suburban bohemians; Michael Avallone wrote pulp fiction, Frances Avallone ran the NJ Right to Choose out of the spare bedroom. I moved to Hollywood shortly after four years at delightful hippie paradise Bard College.

I’ve been making movies, in one way or another, since I was fifteen, and doing it professionally since 1986.  The rampant absurdity of my career trajectory can be inferred from my chaotic IMDb page, but nowadays I’m mostly directing, writing or editing on independent projects. And since 2014, very happily writing writing comic books.

I also do activist work as a board member and social media director for AIsFor.org.

My spectacular wife Augusta is a filmmaker and costumer, and dances/produces burlesque as Penny Starr, Jr.

Motion pictures and stories made fresh daily.
